For our inaugural post, let me share with you one of my new favourite snacks!

Cigarettes Langue, by Sanritsu is actually a variant on the traditional langue de chat cookies from France. Langue de chat literally means "cat's tongue" and it's usual flat and thin shape resembles that of a cat's tongue [or so the French think]. As with all Japanese products, this was no exception and the Japanese came up with a cuter presentation method.xD
Here's a little definition of langue de chat:
A very thin finger-shaped biscuit or piece of chocolate. [from www.allwords.com]
These cigarettes langue come in packs of 8 with 2 packs per box! ^_^ It's not terribly cheap [in comparison to local snacks] but I think it's worth it.

As you can see, the "cigarettes" are packed loosely so they don't crumble easily, yet they are packed tightly enough so that they don't roll around in their crumbs. And trust me. These cigarettes are CRUMBLY.
What I like about them is that they are buttery, yet light and not too sweet. The manufacturer also makes them quite crisp and crumbly yet it is never so crumbly as to leave too many crumbs on one's shirt [as always happens to me with overly crumbly snacks..]. This makes it the perfect accompaniment to ice-cream as a little decorative piece instead of the usual wafer or just a light snack with tea.

They are perfect finger food sizes as well.^_^ I usually finish each piece within 2-3 bites.=X Ahem.
I became addicted to these after receiving a bottle of homemade langue de chat over Chinese New Year. Those were even more glorious than these but since I've obviously run out of THOSE, I've had to find a replacement. And this does very well indeed.=)
For those less lazy than I [and those with more skill], you can make your own langue de chat cookies! Here are some recipes I've found after quickly Googling for them:

As you can see, they all have similar ratios, with loads of butter and sugar. ^_^ Try it out some time! The land of Japanese Snacks is vast and very very interesting so I might review more in future.xD
